NEAVS Posts Comments Opposing Yerkes' Donation to Wingham Wildlife Park!
Thank you for your efforts to help NEAVS oppose Yerkes’ export permit application to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to donate eight chimpanzees to Wingham Wildlife Park, an unaccredited U.K. zoo. We want to update you on our work to stop the eight chimps - Lucas, Fritz, Agatha, Abby, Tara, Faye, Elvira, and Georgia - from being shipped overseas - out of reach of U.S. laws, and instead be placed in the safety of a U.S. licensed and accredited sanctuary.
NEAVS and its coalition members have today submitted public comments with substantive evidence in opposition to Yerkes’ export permit application being granted by FWS. Our comments were hand delivered to FWS by courier and posted on the FWS Federal Register website. The arguments, written with the highest level of commitment to research, investigation, and documentation, are a culmination of months of work on this vital campaign.
