Dr. Margaret B. Peppercorn, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified pediatrician who was in private practice for more than 30 years before joining NEAVS’ Medical Advisory Board and now Board of Directors.

She is a graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Medical School and completed her pediatric training at Children's Hospital National Medical Center and Boston City Hospital.

As a NEAVS’ Medical Advisory Board Member, Dr. Peppercorn co-authored NEAVS’ study, A Review of Autopsy Reports on Chimpanzees in or from U.S. Laboratories. In addition to helping secure a pool of objective pathologists to serve in the study, Dr. Peppercorn provided essential medical expertise in reviewing autopsy reports and summarizing findings.

Dr. Peppercorn also serves on the NEAVS/AFAAR Award Committee for postdoctoral fellowship grants in developing, validating, or using alternatives to animal research.

"I'm excited to continue and enhance my role with NEAVS. For years I have worked on many of its programs as an advisor. Now as a Board Member, I think it will be great to be part of such a talented and dedicated Board of Directors.”
