MEPs lead call to end experiments on primates in the E.U.
“MEPs Jens Holm, Caroline Lucas, Sajjad Karim, and Robert Evans are today calling on other MEPs to back a landmark call to make plans for an end to the use of chimpanzees and monkeys in experiments across the European Union (EU). The call comes at a point when almost 50 MEPs have signed a declaration before the European Parliament to end primate research across the EU in the next six years.” Read more (www.Politics.co.uk)
OSU to help pay for chimpanzee care
According to the Associated Press, Ohio State University (OSU) has agreed to help pay for the care of seven chimps once used in its research program and now at Chimp Haven, Inc. in Louisiana. The chimps were recently transferred from Primarily Primates, Inc. a Texas sanctuary now under investigation by the Texas Attorney General.
